The Eyeliners: No Apologies

Are you one of those fans that gave up on the music industry during the 90's? Choosing multi disc cd changers for your car rather than being subjected to the rap revolution on radio?? Cherishing your CD and vinyl collection, wondering what ever happened to Rock N' Roll? Riot Grrls, Punk, punk pop, Rockabilly, emo, you have an idea what it means but the titles alone make you reach for your trusty CD collection. .

I know I was. But the music industry is making a comeback and that rock we held so dearly has been reinvented into dozens of categories and hundreds of new bands that appear everyday, primarily arising from today's vibrant indie scene. One of those bands, The Eyeliners, falls into that unique group that delivers solid punk rock with enough vintage rock and roll laced in their sound to reach a wide variety of fans. Whether you are a punk princess, a self proclaimed riot grrl or a rock n' roll bad boy this group feeds those cravings.

"No Apologies" - released on The Blackheart record label, produced by Kenny Laguna and boasting some backing vocals and guitar work from veteran rocker Joan Jett, is a fourteen track odyssesy of originals, collaborations and covers. It's no surprise Jett signed the gals, Gel ( guitar and backing vocals , Lisa ( bass and backing vocals ) and Laura, ( lead vocals and drums ) to her own label after the trio of siblings opened for her. This band has that same energy and style that has made Jett such a successful live performer.

With their high energy showcasing their raw talent in songs like "Think of Me" - the rapid-fire first single fueled by dark lyrics that would appeal to any rock n roll fan - all the way to the two excellent covers on this album (The Promise and Do Anything You Wanna Do), these gals never let up.

"Destroy" and its accompanying video has it all, from Laura's strong vocals and Lisa's incredible bass line, on down to Gel's amazing work on the guitar. Destroy is a special song with several unique elements - a fact reinforced when Jett joins in on guitar and backing vocals. With the catchy chorus and high speed energy being pumped out non-stop, this rocket blazing hit is sure to be a fan favorite.

Filled with solid tracks like Voice Of Reason, All I Wanted, Can't Get Enough, Bleed Til Today and Next Big Thing, this album has a strong foundation that will stand the test of time.

For me, The Eyeliners is a bright spot on the horizon. A symbol that rock n' roll can evolve without losing its roots and the sound I grew up cherishing. There are soo many new bands and genres out there but very few that can take me back to that place where I slip on the headphones and just rock out. The Eyeliners brings me there and have re-energized my love for music. If there is any new band you give a spin to this is definitely a band you should check out.
