Punk Rocker Squeaky from Fabulous Disaster: Interview

The Cover Zone would like to thank Squeaky and Fabulous Disaster for all their help and support.

TCZ: What were you're greatest influences in pursuing a music career?

Squeaky: To actually get off my ass and say this is my life?! I had always felt that way since I picked up a guitar. But getting on the road before I could even legally drink, going to new places every night and hanging out with friends made me think, "I think I could do this for a living"

TCZ:Tell us about you're first guitar?

Squeaky: My first guitar was a black Ariapro II. My parents bought it for me, I think they got tired of my air guitaring all the time.

TCZ: What equipment do you use today?

Squeaky: Now I play a Fender Jagstang, the love of my life and play through a 2000 Marshall & cabinet.

TCZ: When you left Girlush Figure and joined Fabulous Disaster what was the most difficult adjustment for you?

Squeaky: In Girlush Figure I had my hands in everything, I did most everything. In Fab D the responsibilites the band does have, is split fair and square. Its a nice change and its the way it should be but different than what I was used to.

TCZ: You've just returned from an extensive 6 week tour of Europe with Fabulous Disaster. What was that like?

Squeaky: Europe is always fun. Its so great over there for a touring band, they treat you with so much respect

TCZ: How different are the fans in Europe compared to American fans?

Squeaky: They care more about music over there. Americans have gotten so spoiled because in most cases you can go to a rad show any night of the week. In Europe they are so stoked that you traveled all the way over there for them.

TCZ: How different is it touring with Fabulous Disaster compared to Girlush Figure?

Squeaky: Its not too different. Fab D & Girlush Figure share the same fan base.

TCZ: Any stories from the European Tour you would like to share about yourself or your bandmates?

Squeaky:
3 fist fights
1 yeast infection
0 broken bones
1 puking onstage

I think that sums it up.

TCZ: Tell us about the new full length you've just finished recording with Fab D.

Squeaky: Well we haven't released a full length yet. We did an EP about a year ago and just released a split cd with a band called Zinc, but no full length. We're label shopping right now to get the perfect label for this record.

TCZ: Are you working on any solo projects or collaborations with anyone else?

Squeaky: I am working on a record myself, I dont want to call it solo because that sounds so cheesy and its not totally true. The idea is to have friends of mine on every song in one way or another ... vocals, guitars, piano, etc.

I also have been doing something with my good friend Mike from The Vote, he was also in Violent Society. We record via 4 track and mail it back and forth. He is an amazing musician and I consider him the musical love of my life. Unfortunately we have never lived in the same city to play in a band together.

TCZ: How many tattoos do you have?

Squeaky: I have 6, mostly large pieces. My newest one is on my right arm and is by Katie Davie at Salvation Tattoos in Richmond VA and I plan on getting anymore by her, she is amazing.

TCZ: Is there any special meaning to any of you're tattoos?

Squeaky: They all have meaning. I'm kind of a walking memory book for myself, they all stand for something big that has happened to me.

TCZ: How do you spend your downtime?

Squeaky: I scrapbook and I love it!

TCZ: What is your favorite Fab D song to perform?

Squeaky: I think my favorite song to play live is "Suck It Up', it has so much energy, from the band and the crowd.

TCZ: When did you start playing guitar?

Squeaky: When I was 14, so 10 years ago.

TCZ: Favorite current bands outside your own?

Squeaky: The Vote , Downtrodn & The Shocker

TCZ: What is the one thing you want fans to know about you?

Squeaky: That I write a rad little advice column for thecoverzone.com
