Kitty and the Kowalskis come to us from the big one, New York City. The band formed back in the 1990's and the current line up is Kitty on vocals, guitar Mike on lead guitar, the other Mike on bass and Greggie on drums. This powerful foursome's latest release on Amp Records is "Chinese Democracy". Gotta tell you, this CD Rocks!
The first track is Depression Overdrive and right out of the gate, overdrive is the way this band plays!!! The sound reminds me of Debbie Harry's Blondie with a great vocalist, ripping lead guitar work, solid tight bass playing and a drummer who takes no prisoners! Kitty and the Kowlalskis have shared the stage with some great performers, including the legendary Iggy Pop and The Ramones.
In appreciation to the latter, there are 2 songs on the CD that are dedicated to the late Dee Dee and Joey Ramone. Track 2 is simply titled Oh Dee Dee and track 9 titled "Joey's Song". The awesome songwriting and execution of both without a doubt have the late rockers smiling down! On Track 10 the band does the perfect punk rock birthday song, a must for your next birthday celebration! Kitty and the Kowalskis have delivered a CD well worth a listen. I'm betting that first play will lead to many, many more.
