Mozella
4 Stars
Detroit native Mozella took her career into her own hands when she parted ways with her adolesent garage band. At the age of 15 she grabbed her guitar, became her own booking agent and starting playing coffee houses. But, Mozellas dreams were bigger than the local jave joint scene. Right after high school graduation she headed to Los Angeles. To pay her dues Mozella worked as a waitress during the day and wrote her songs and performed at coffee houses in the evenings. When a demo of Mozellas work found its way to Maverick Records excutives in 2003 she was signed to the label. She had the good fortune to work with producer/songwriter Jude Cole and the amazing album "I Will" was the result.
Mozella's "I Will" album combines great lyrics with an infectious feel and soulful sound...not unlike a Macy Gray, this is the must have CD for your next party! This CD has an effortless feel to it, like it was done with so much ease and everything just fell into place. They say the test of a true artist or professional is to do the difficult and make it look easy and Mozella has done just that with "I Will"!
One of my favorites, track 3, "Killing Time" is a sensual, haunting song, that captivates the listener from the first note. There is some great guitar work throughout the whole CD, but on this song in particular I love what I hear! Track 4 "Amnesia" is a hit. No doubt about this one, it's as commercial as you can get and should remain a crowd pleaser for the ages. Track 2, "Love Is Something" is also a solid example of the great range of influences Mozella dips into.
Mozella has every right to buy a new set of guitars strings and celebrate with the release of this project. This is a hit top 10 CD! Groove on Mozella!! With this disc in my rack I know..."I Will"
Highly recommended.Mozella Links
