CD Review "Naked"
Soon-to-be-released in the U.S. but having been available for some time in Japan, Naked is classic Jett. The title track has her trademarks all over it, wicked guitar, soul-baring lyrics and a deliciously catchy rhythm. It’s just a hint of the old and new-style hits that are scattered through out this CD.
From the softest sounds, like the ballad "Watersign" (originally released on "Jett Rock"), to "Bad Time" - the rock ballad with some of the album’s best guitar work, there's something on here for everyone. "Androgynous", Joan’s version of the early Replacements classic, has all the earmarks of another Jett Hit. Catchy and smile-inducing, but also lyrically much deeper than it might appear to the casual listener, this is probably the best track on the CD. "Right in The Middle", with its heavy bassline and chorus, will have to settle for a very close second.
"Turn it Around" is the sister track to "Right in Middle" both songs promising to be great additions to Jett's already incredible stage shows, pulsing with that energy only she can deliver.
Peppered throughout are old fan favorites like "Fetish" and "Science Fiction Double Feature", surrounded by good solid music in the remaining tracks. From "Everyone Knows" - sure to be a Billboard staple - to the raw sounds of “Tube Talkin”, right on to the fast moving finale “Five", this CD is destined to be regarded as one of Jett's best ever. The Cover Zone © 2004 - 2006 - Galswguitars
