The Jennifer Project: Contender Punk - Pop Punk Category
Biography
The Jennifer Project was originally formed in 1999 in LA'S San Gabriel Valley. Their energetic pop-punk guitar lines inspired by early 90's acts such as Green Day and the Mr. T Experience are topped off with girl-friendly lyrics belted out in a way reminiscent of No Doubt and Save Ferris. More recently they have been described as "The Jam, with pretty vocals." In the not too distant future they would like to see themselves opening for bands such as Veruca Salt or The Dollyrots.
At the center of The Jennifer Project is the song-writing team of Amy Talaska and Eric Carter, both of whom are not strangers to the LA music scene, Amy with her own production company, Glass Kitten Productions, and Eric with his record label, Hydrophone Records. The rhythm section is comprised of Steve Stach and Mark Adams whose energy and humor drive their lively stage performance. The newest member of the band, Matt Kerr rounds out the sound with his distinct lead lines and heavy handed chords.
The band released their debut EP "Live at the Hollywood Bowl-O-Rama" in January 2007 on Hydrophone Records. Since the release they have been featured on CSU Fullerton's Titan Radio and appeared on cable TV's "Horror Kung Fu Theatere". Prior to that they were also featured on the sound track of "Regular Frankie Fan"(Magick Films, 2001). In 2005 they were awarded the Rock City News award for Best Song Writing.
They are currently planning a mini-tour in the summer of '07 and are writing their first album, which is scheduled to be recorded in late '07
